PROJECT SUMMARY

ECO pathways consists of a project in which a mixed pioneer group of about 20 people, to include, German, Spanish and French trainers and advisors from the building sector as well as beneficiaries, will carry out a survey to study and experiment construction training courses in terms of sustainable development in three European training centres.

All partners who currently work on projects focussed on local development with different external organisations, in particular people in the building trade enterprises, have reflected on the future of training courses in construction as regards the evolution of this sector in the light of new regulations on sustainable development such as the French "Grenelle de l'Environnement".

Therefore, ECO pathways will involve one or two trainers or vocational advisors, accompanied by two or three beneficiaries from each country, simply to carry out a study of present practices. There would be 3 seminars each between three and five days in each country.

The objective would be to pool teaching resources and expertise and study the possible matching of curricula and accreditations. This would constitute the first step of a wider scale project, enabling partners at first to experiment other partners’ initiatives in this area.

The follow on would be a more ambitious project leading to a European Training scheme, whereby trainees could integrate in their pathway periods of time spent in other member states within the ECVET system.

The European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training aims to give people greater control over their individual learning experience and make it more attractive to move between different countries and different learning environments: an issue for which the five partners wish to be prepared.
